At a conference where IRS director of exempt organizations spoke
He specifically said that NCAA NIL collectives are in their crosshairs. He believes a bunch that were originally given (c)(3) status (because they ostensibly paired with tax-exempt educational institutions and their purpose is supposed to assist the tax-free mission of those schools) will lose that designation in the near future. He is asking, from a 10,000 foot view, whether these collectives are really promoting any charitable purpose.

They really aren't.

We'll see how serious they get.
