I made a claim and sent in photos. They sent a check that is about 60% of the amount of other estimates I got independently. They say that if I want to get it repaired at a shop of my choice I send them the bill to be negotiated. If I want to fix it myself, I only get the amount they sent me. I would like to fix it myself but I would like to be compensated appropriately and factor in the amount for the less than professional job I would do at that I would get used parts. Do I have any chance at a larger payout from Progressive or am I stuck with their original check amount?
