Whats the best setup to integrate home security alarm, doorbell/cam, smart lock?
We recently moved into what we believe to be our forever home and want to get things all set up in the most convenient way. I’ve been researching smart locks and really like the Yale Assure 2 touch (opting for this instead of the Schlage Encode Plus because I think the fingerprint scanner will be more convenient than the Apple Homekey for our kids without phones, etc).

But now I realize I have to decide if I go with the z-wave module or the WiFi module. Sounds like if I stick with the Ring doorbell the previous owners had installed, the lock has to be z-wave. But the Ring doorbell only integrates with the Ring security system, which I haven’t looked into. The z-wave won’t integrate directly with Alexa, etc. but will have to work through a z-wave hub, and I don’t know if that slows things down or is just fine. The WiFi module will drain the battery of the smart lock much quicker as well.

I honestly am having a hard time following all the different options I have available. Anyone have any advice for how I should set things up? I eventually want to build a whole smart home.
