Lived near Philly as a kid and go back a lot. Not a great city. A day is pushing
it. Maybe half a day, see the bell, some historic buildings, get a cheesesteak (meh). NYC is much better, tons to see and do. I’d spend 2-3 days in NYC.

Some good NY state parks along the way and some battlefields. 3 days in NYC; 1.5 in Philly, 2 in DC.
