But...I kind of thought that was what BYU had. We seemed to thrive because we
were a TEAM. We were a bunch of nobody's. We weren't selfish and we enjoyed one another and it bred success--serious success.

THEN...our coach up and dumps us and suddenly people talk that things were as copacetic as we believed and a few players appear to be saying, "What's in it for me?"

I might have it wrong, but that's the problem. All I can do is observe from the outside and it's evident that we have issues going on or DH, RS and AK wouldn't have entered the portal. Sure, they weren't initially certain as to who their new coach would be, but now they are. I can't see where any of them wouldn't thrive under a program ran by KY

So, when someone like DH is being courted by Duke where they are almost the same as UK and having a complete turnover of their entire roster, what is the attraction? It's definitely a good academic option and they have rabid fans, but really that's not much more than he had here at BYU. Something is pulling him out there and it looks a lot like it's just money. He had and would have plenty of playing time and connections here at BYU for future success. He was interested to the level that he came to the presser, but nothing known subsequently as he's still "looking".

AK didn't even wait for the new coach to be in place and get to know how that affected him before he said goodbye. In total honesty, and only IMHO, I don't believe any school will be as open to AK as we were at BYU. Most rabid and engaged fans don't give a dang about you as a starting player choosing to fast to where it will affect your game. We don't like that it did, but at least at BYU, we do value the individual more than the game, but that didn't seem to get us much in this case. Oh well, you can't win them all.
