About 15 years ago, I sat in a school conference room with a kid, his parents,
and friends while he signed his letter of intent to go play football at the ewe (I know, bad choice). As an admin, we would give the kid time to speak as well as the parents before the kid signed. It was quite the production and we tried to make it nice for the kid. The mom stood up and explained that his scholarship was worth over $100k (tuition, room, board, travel, etc.). I thought to myself, WOW, what a great deal he is getting.

That same kid would be raking it in now.

How things have changed.
