and then CB went nuts with it because there was so much surprise at the terms. If BYU says the deal isn't for that much, then I believe them. But I'm also going to assume that the official salary will be augmented by coach's circle funds or something similar (perhaps in the form of Ryan Smith) to make up the difference. The reporting talked about the salary offer from the Nets being a factor, so the BYU offer must have at least been somewhat competitive. BYU obviously did not leak the figures, so the leak probably came from CAA (Young's agents) or someone else from Young's camp. There's also been reporting of a greater commitment to NIL and other program boosts. Somebody, probably Smith and likely others, is pouring some serious $$ into the program, and some of that cash is probably going to the coach to supplement whatever BYU is paying to get to the $30million mark over 7 years.

Let's just say Young will be paid very well, but there's no way we're ever going to get transparency on the salary structure or terms.
