You can absolutely believe that Pope will play the "Hey, I understand your culture, I understand how to deal with 'mission rust" card. When the next big LDS recruit (Likely Dean Ruekert) comes up, you don't think Pope will be at his house playing the "I've coached at BYU and I've coached at Kentucky, and I can tell you where I'd rather be" tune? He's already poached two of the better LDS players to come along in the past 5 years. Even one more is too many.
It's not like he's the only one - Bronco continued to try to recruit LDS kids to Virginia long after he had moved back East. It's just human nature.
I was a huge fan of Pope while he was here, but it's better for us if Kentucky goes 8-23 and is a total disaster this year.
