I was thinking earlier today about how useless win/loss stats could be and this
exact scenario for a starting pitcher came to mind. I think I saw a minor league scoreboard where the starter went 4.2 innings, so the next pitcher got the decision. Technically a pitcher could get the decision with no pitches if he came in and picked off a runner
