Back when Washington went away from the Bullets name a lot of people loved the Wizards name. The alliteration sounded good and Wizards seemed like a cool name at the time. 20+ years later the name is panned throughout the league and even their own fans hate it. This was part of the reason it took a while for Snyder to rename the Redskins and they went with Washington Football Team for a while. They wanted a solid name that people wouldn't hate. Commanders isn't great, but its fine and will be solid long term.

Of all the options currently on the table for the Utah NHL franchise, Yeti(s) is the most likely to be viewed similarly. Often a simple more boring option is the best option.
