I’ve had the weirdest thing happening to my drivers over the last couple years
I got fitted for a driver back in 2020. Ended up with a Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero with an Accra TZ5 shaft. Love the club but it was pricey. Ended up buying a slightly used head on eBay and brand new shaft with an Callaway adapter already installed. Put it together and saved a lot of money that way.

Club was great for a long time. Went from hitting my drives 250-270 to 270-300+. Had some unreal drives during this time that were 30-40 yards past where I was used to hitting.

Then one day I suddenly felt like I couldn’t hit the club to save my life. I noticed my ferrule had slid up the shaft a bit. I researched it and everywhere said that shouldn’t affect the performance of my club so I kept using it. It still just didn’t feel right though.

Then one day I hit a ball and heard a weird noise from my club. I grabbed the head and twisted and could turn the shaft in my hands. The adapter wasn’t bonded anymore. Not sure how long I had been playing with it but it definitely wasn’t just in my head the club was having problems which is why it wasn’t feeling right.

So in a pinch I bought a used shaft of the same brand and everything and put it on my driver head. It was ok but never felt quite the same. Played that one for a while until I noticed the ferrule sliding up again. Even though I couldn’t feel the shaft twisting at all I had no confidence in the shaft because of what happened before so I got another one and have been using it since last year.

A few rounds ago I was smoking my driver and then one day out of the blue I can’t hit it at all and I notice that the ferrule is sliding up again. I grab the club in my hands and twist the entire head off. Same thing happening again.

I feel like I’m going crazy why does this keep happening? I swing normal and don’t do anything that would make a club break like this. I did buy two of the shafts on eBay and one from a golf shop site but the eBay sellers were pretty big online gold retailers with high ratings.

I finally decided to scrap this club and purchased a new uncut shaft, ping adapter, and a g430 LST head. I’ve decided I’m going to build the club myself so that if it fails I can’t blame anyone else.

I am just wondering how many shots these faulty clubs have cost me over the last few years because I have had stretches where I just can’t hit my driver worth crap and when that happens it hasn’t been long after that my club head is falling off.
