Why have an athletic department that supposedly wants to compete at the highest level, only to hamstring ourselves in the name of being cautious? I understand we are a unique university with a unique mission, but we don't get to dictate the circumstances in which we compete; we simply choose whether we're going to play the game or not. We will not be meaningfully competitive if we are too "cautious" for too long.
