One of my closest friends came down with Type 2 diabetes a few years ago (in
his 50s). He rarely exercised, and ate a poor diet. Fast food was a staple.

I've tried to encourage him to exercise, but he said he gets enough exercise just walking around his apartment.

The doctor wanted to put him on insulin, but he did not like the idea of injecting himself, so he was given oral medication instead. He didn't like the side effects, however, so he quit taking the medication, and started taking an herbal supplement. In the meantime, he has cut down his carb intake. He said he has done some online research, and that he knows more than the doctor.

I'm worried about him.

Thought? Suggestions?
