It’s about apneic episodes and hypoxia. Hypercarbia can lead to right heart fail
pulm Htn, etc. Oxygen saturation, while clearly important, is not the only thing being looked at. Anyway, multiple reasons to prescribe (or not) non invasive ventilation such as CPAP.
