The people that I know that have done it have the money to do it without any
question if it is "smart" or not. I think when you have a certain level of expendable income and it's not a stretch, it's sort of a "why not.... we can afford to do it".
Personally, I would rather not deal with another home and would rather go stay at a hotel/condo that cleans up after me and I don't have to worry about it when I'm not there.
