I think this is a valid point

The analogies are valid as they both come with fairly similar profiles

  • High profile LDS Coach
  • Pro Experience
  • Brings an exciting brand of offense
  • Inherits a fairly experienced team with some legitimate stars
  • Both shooting for the moon in early recruiting
  • Uncertainty whether past experience will translate to a high-level college head coach

I agree that managing a basketball team should be easier than a football team so that is working in KY's favor.  But, until we see the results on the court, we won't know for sure.

But, that's true with almost any coach regardless of background. Great coaches fail and up-and coming coaches succeed wildly at their next school frequently. I don't see a lot of reasons to assume that KY will fall into the same camp as Crowton. Other than some high-level similarities, their personalities and approach will likely be completely different.
