We were living in Utah and all my friends were Jazz fans. I let him know that there was a team in Utah (which he obviously knew). He said that he'd continue to root for the Lakers until Kareem retired. Then he'd become a Jazz fan. That was good enough for me.

I also rooted for the Celtics because Danny Ainge played there.
