Long term gear investments are best done with non-chain high quality manufacturers.
For tents, you go Springbar. (I'm not sure if there is a craftsman level tier for backpacking tents though).
For carrying bags you go Red Oxx
For sleeping bags you go Wiggy's.
All of those are handmade and will last 50+ years, but you do pay to play for top-tier gear.
