It can be self-defeating. If you keep sucking up more as an individual player, that's less that is available for others so your teammates won't be as good. You won't get as much exposure as your team is weaker, and you won't have the guys that help you look good. Less likely to get interest from pro scouts.

Obviously a different story if you are Jimmer, but guess what, you aren't.

I doubt any player considers the system effects.
