Chandler is someone who isn't invested in BYU. Just because he is LDS doesn't mean he is invested in BYU.
When a coach with the charisma that Pope has comes along and succeeds in winning over those types of athletes, for that kid his investment is in that coach, not the school. At least not till he spends some of his time, sweat and energy at the school.

So I find it disappointing that Chandler isn't going to play for BYU. I felt the same way about Burgess. I didn't feel this way about pope because until he was an assistant at BYU I didn't know or care who he was.

KY doesn't strict me as a used car salesman like Pope. IE big personality always rah rah rahing. But all the reports seem to indicate he relates really well with the star athletes. And when you are going after kids who aren't invested in BYU, it will take that type of coach to sway them over.
