It was simple for me to go on a mission — I had nothing better to do and nothing of note going on in my life. Like 99.7%
of others who I served with, we merely paused our early adulthood and college lives to serve a mission.
I didn’t give up valuable athletic scholarship opportunities, I certainly didn’t give up potential NBA opportunities. I was just another kid with nothing better to do.
It’s ok that we acknowledge his sacrifice was in fact greater and that doesn’t make us any less than him — but it really does highlight how impressive of a person he must be.
