BlooCoug Intervention Needed
Love Lohner, but is it possible he overestimates his skill level? He’s a solid
role player, a good 3rd or 4th guy off the bench player for a P4 team (15-20 minutes max). He plays the role of defensive enforcer and solid rebounder. But that’s probably his ceiling at the P4 level. His shooting challenges make him a liability on offense or he would likely get more playing time. If it’s not Caleb overestimating his abilities, maybe he is getting bad advice from someone? Or maybe he’s just seeking more NIL money?

BYU and Baylor are both solid basketball and academic schools. Would it be better for him to just accept his role, get his degree from a good school, and move into civilian life or a European pro league? Or is he wanting to get a starting role on a P4 team, because I just don’t see that happening. Maybe he could be the man on a G5 team for a season or two, but is that worth all the moving around if you aren’t an NBA player? He could have stayed at BYU or Baylor and still had a solid shot at joining a good European team.

I’m just scratching my head here. Caleb’s a good guy and I want to see him succeed. But what is his calculus? What is he looking for?
