This is what I liked.
I enjoy all the little Easter eggs that they throw into the movie. There’s plenty of them do the execute them well? sometimes.
I think Spangler‘s daughter is just as good as this movie as she was in the first. Think she’s well written and she’s a great actress in that role. Dan Aro is much better in this movie than this previous. I think they did a good job of making him a real mentor. I thought the effects and the bad guy was really good. I’d love the scene when he put the horns on, I think bringing it back All the old characters was the right call.
But I didn’t like all the extra characters they brought from the last movie without any purpose. There was way too many people in this movie all the kids, except for Spangler really were unnecessary and that includes the boy from the last movie if they would’ve been left out. It wouldn’t affect the movie at all. It actually would’ve made the movie and the runtime better, speaking of length it was far too long. Should’ve cut out at least a half an hour of the movie. The pacing just wasn’t quick enough for a movie like Ghostbusters until the very end. I kept waiting for that nostalgic where you want to clap. Not that I do that , but I like that feeling. I never had that moment in this movie
The whole LGBT underplot was weird. It makes it uncomfortable because I never know if their relationship is a normal young teenage relationship between a girl and a girl and a boy and a boy or now it’s romantic. Clearly we’re trying to give a romantic twist and they didn’t want to cross the line probably to make it leave the door open.
My ranking of Ghostbusters movies
Ghostbusters one
Ghostbusters four
Ghostbusters 2 (I’m not a big fan of two, but the pacing was better than five)
Ghostbusters 5
Ghostbusters three but way down the list
