I’ve been told you can put hot sauce in the hole they make and they won’t peck your house anymore.
Shooting one with a pellet gun would be great but the odds you accidentally kill it and then get a huge fine are not worth the risk.

Fortunately, it hasn't been pecking on anyone's house that we know of. Woodpecker(s) basically destroyed a section
