I know. It's quite a profound thing to realize. Hence my point that even if you don't enjoy strategy games,
there are plenty of other games to try. However, I think it's important for people to realize that most strategic board games require a second play. Accept that you'll likely be trounced your first time playing, and then by the second play, you're more likely to enjoy it because you know what's going on.
