I can understand it why she would feel that way but she has to put that aside
when she does her job as a journalist. It doesn't appear she did that. Her interview was a few days later as you said, by then the girl's story had changed or she had added details that just weren't possible. Holly at the very least could have asked why her story changed. It seems that it was a little too personal and she didn't separate her personal feelings from her job.
