I think the Turo type of RV share sites have kept the price down to some degree
but there is a lot that can go wrong with an RV, especially the newer "covid" rigs, they are a nightmare and the whole industry is suffering a terrible hit to their reputation. Quality control went into the toilet in 2019 and the consolidation of many brands under one private equity umbrella has made it even worse as they chase bottom line and not quality.

If I were to rent another, I'd make it a point to rent something pre 2018. I bought a 2018 very lightly used travel trailer just 3 weeks before the lockdowns hit in 2020, and 4 years later I have equity in it. The prices shot up as everyone wanted to get away in their own covid pod and pretend to be instagrammers at Joshua Tree, but once they realized they had to manage a black tank, they weren't interested anymore. The RV industry was pumping out units to meet demand, but was doing so with skeleton crews in plants that had no product due to supply chain issues. The covid rigs are largely a mess. Now people are shopping for pre-2018 rigs and paying a premium for them.
