I had a grandmother that died at 73 from colon cancer. I got tested at 55, as
that was the norm then, like it was very rare to get it before that. I had one polyp, so I got my 2nd colonoscopy 3 years later because I wanted to make sure. Insurance didn't give me any problem with that. No polyps. Then, I didn't even realize 5 more years had gone by since that 2nd one, so doctor suggested to go again. I did yesterday and I had 1 more polyp. All of them have recognized that I have Diverticulosis. I was surprised, after having that 2nd polyp that the doctor and paperwork suggested that I didn't need another for 5-10 years. I could see the 5 years, but it doesn't make sense to me, if I've had 2 polyps develop, that I would now just go off for another 10 years and not worry about it.

Boy, that is somewhat of a hell to go through the colon prep. I'll have nightmares for months. Yuk!
