bench over 245, squat over 315, and deadlift over 315 (the squat and deadlift are much more difficult for me since I am 6'5"). I can run a mile in under 7 minutes. I read a study than less than 1% of all people can squat, deadlift, and bench over 225lbs...sad because it just takes effort and discipline. I don't feel or look old at all, as confirmed by interactions with people all the time, they always think I am in my late thirties or early forties. Your age does not matter as much as your health and physical fitness level.
Being out of shape is hard, being fat is hard, being fit and in shape is hard as well. Why not choose the option of being fit and in shape since both extremes are hard. I see people my age (especially former HS classmates) that look like they are in their 70's, some are obese while some just look sickly and weak...I would imagine this is not an easy lifestyle to live with.
I work out at the gym 5-6 days a week with my wife in the mornings and eat fairly healthy, it requires discipline and sacrifice to get up early every morning and go to the gym and push yourself to exhaustion. However, when I look at many of my peers vs. myself I believe I take the better route to live life.
I am surprised how few couples I see at the gym together, my wife and I love to work out together, to push each other and spend time with one another. Such a great way to increase our marital bond and our health. Side bonus, she looks amazing for her age and has a lot more energy and drive for other activities 😉
I can't imagine being out of shape, lack of time is no excuse...you make time to do those things most important to you. Why would your health not be one of your highest priorities.
