Are travel points credit cards worth it for those that don’t travel for work?
I generally use my Costco rewards card for travel. I get 3% cash back on travel and an extra 2% Costco cash back if I book through Costco travel.

I know Chase and others have sign up bonuses and rewards rates that can be substantial, but when I’ve looked into it, you usually have to book through that company’s travel portal. Seems like the lack of flexibility (and potentially higher prices) would cut against the benefits.

Like I said I don’t travel for work, and when we travel as a family we are budget travelers (not afraid to fly Spirit or stay in a budget motel to stretch the dollar). Am I missing out on anything by not having one of these cards with more rewards?
