This was early in this century where there wasn't the robo calls we now so enjoy, so it was usually a wrong number dialed by a human. I knew it wasn't a legitimate call, so I played with the people. Sometimes I'd answer, "Deputy Sherriff McGruff, Pornography Hot Line, can I help you?" Sometimes, in Spanish I'd say, "Consulate of Mexico, can I help you?" Always got quick clicks on both responses. It was the young boy in me.
