I've never heard a good thing about working for PE in my field
I guess some ophthalmologists are so desperate to live in certain locations that they'll give away a big portion of their paychecks for "better" management. It's great for the boomer docs looking to retire with a big paycheck but terrible for everyone else.

From what I've heard, PE groups increase the number of req patient visits to surgery (should be 1-2, but one group I talked to had 5 visits), increase non-indicated testing (create indications or do the testing more frequently), push hard on premium surgery add-ons, limit doctor autonomy (talked to a doc who's PE group caused weird scheduling snafus whenever the doc did a trab), and many other things. One of my main interview questions with every group I interviewed with was "have you been approached by private equity?" And then see where the conversation goes. One of my top job prospects told me they "weren't sure" how they felt about PE and I noped right out of there. I don't want to be a cog in the machine for some rich investor to make money off of.
