I think one reason meetings get poo poo'd is because people think they need to fill up the whole time. Not true. My way of working is to try and solve via email. If that doesn't work, set up a 30 minute meeting but try and solve before the 30 minute mark. If that doesn't work, blame the project management office, they're usually at fault anyways.
