Football may end up becoming a club sport in order to operate like an amateurs' sports league
Absent of any statutory exceptions that would be created, schools may have no choice but to abandon football in conferences because of NIL, Title IX, employment status, and collective bargaining issues because of the coming compensation disparity amongst athletes. I could see this as a real possibility if nothing gets done legislatively and lots of NLRB, DOJ, and legal red tape gets involved. It would be a lot easier for a school to license its IP to a club than to have to deal with all the regulatory and legal hassle.
