The Pistons might actually be stuck at the bottom of the NBA.
It might surprise some people here, but the Pistons weren't tanking last year. They are just that bad. Everyone is tired of losing, the owner, managment, the coaches, the fans, everyone. Cade was drafted in 2021 and the team wasn't good around him. In 2022, Ivey was drafted and Cade was injured so it was a throw away year. Can't be good when your No. 1 pick is injured all year, but Ivey did show some promise.

2023 was supposed to be the year the Pistons started trying, and it resulted in the worst record in franchise history.

So, what happens next? The pistons get the 5th pick, again. Worst pick they could have gotten. The owner is trying to find a new President of Basketball operations, and no one wants the job.

No Free agent in their right mind would want to join this dumpster fire, so they'll have to over pay someone like Tobias Harris...

I get that the NBA draft Lottery process was built to stop teams from tanking, and it's doing a decent job at that. The question is, what happens when a bad organization gets stuck at the bottom? Will the NBA draft Lottery system just keep them there forever? 1 more bad year and Cade Cunningham might ask to be traded. What do you do when your #1 overall pick asks to leave?
