I had a classic Honda, pull choke mower at one point in my life. Built in Japan.
I bought it used and it ran as smooth as silk. Had it stolen. I hate thieves.

I've seen plenty of those old school, classic Honda engines that can be abused and still keep on running. The quality of craftsmanship and materials was outstanding. And then they outsourced to China and that was that.

I had the opportunity to replace it with a very lightly used Toro with a Briggs engine. Not as quiet nor as silky smooth. The previous owner was a rich guy who thought he'd do his own yard work and then never did. That mower is now 24 years old. It has a Quantum engine on it, which is probably the best Briggs engine ever made. Such a simple design. I've had to replace a lot of the plastic parts through the years, but it still starts first pull after priming. Great mower. Aluminum deck, personal pace. So light and easy to use.
