...and unfortunately AAA didn't do enough of those other things, that's why he was encouraged to leave. He had way too many of the basic fundamentals that were lacking to be competitive at the Big12 level and wasn't going to make up enough of that ground in one more season.
But, that's apples to oranges compared with Waterman, Noah wasn't encouraged to leave or he would've left long before. The fact that he waited until the very last second means it wasn't an easy decision for him to make and there's a good possibility he wrestled with it. Tells me we've a reasonable shot at keeping him and just need to give him a competitive NIL offer.
It's a lot harder to get non-LDS guys to want to come to BYU in the first place, when you find one that likes it enough that he struggled with the decision to enter the portal again it's a lot easier to do what you gotta do to keep them than it is to go out and try and convince a new kid that HC Life at BYU is great.
