Interesting, looks like Tesla might Axe the 4680 according to this source.
I have been a long time critic of the 4680 form factor for batteries in Tesla.

The batteries have had lower energy density, less power draw (CyberBeast with less HP than Model S Plaid, but larger battery pack), and even Tesla's own graph showed slower charging.

But with the Sandy Munro breakdown of the 4680 Model Y and Cybertruck battery pack, I found out the batteries are not being used as a "Structural battery pack"

The latest, Elon is thinking about canceling the entire 4680 cell line based on cost. . .

Props to Elon for trying something new and wanting to bring down costs of batteries while also getting more vertical integration of his product line, it just turns out that 4680 cells were never an actual benefit and Elon completely over hyped their benefits, while the end result was basically showing the pros and the cons will basically even out the change in form factor.
