BYU women's basketball has had quite a few ups and downs with its roster over the past two seasons - unexpected injuries; planned players unable to move ahead in the program; need to play young players; etc. Considering those ups and downs, I think Amber Whiting has done relatively well playing in the tough Big 12 conference.
BYU looks like it is bringing in a pretty good mix of promising freshmen players and experienced, steady players from the transfer portal. While I don't think the players jump off of the page at you with their stats, I think that Whiting is looking for players who fit the type of system she is seeking to implement - steady, consistent, and hard-nosed. With up to 7 players who seem to be new coming into the program, that's a lot of athletes to integrate into a team.
Hope it goes well for them. There are no "gimmes" in the Big 12 conference.
