If they have you leave, that is fine. But there are a lot of people that burn bridges as they leave. Try to keep as many relationships and bridges intact as you can.

Also, create a list of property that belongs to the company and ask them if there is anything else you need to return. Let them know in writing that you have either removed or checked that you have returned or removed all intellectual property from your computer (and make a list if possible). This protects you from any allegations of theft (property or trade secret/government secret). Send the list and everything else to your supervisor so that the supervisor has a record. Save this communicaiton in a safe place.
