I rarely rate things at the top or the bottom of the possible options. To me, something has to be about as good as it could be to get 10/10.
That's the benefit of the free form comments that permit you to explain the review you gave.

In contrast, my wife and her entire family would rate every single restaurant they ever visit as 5/5 or 0/5. The margin between these options is very small and could come down to the server's attitude or the condition of the restroom. I consider them much more extreme in their views than I am and consider myself to be more moderate.

I don't get the angst OP has that not everyone is the same as him when it comes to online reviews. Read the written comments and figure out which beach house is the best for you.
