I'll caveat that by saying I'm not sure it's the actual way we've tried to recruit.
But there's been a lot of articles and statements that basically say BYU can and will now recruit by selling players on "we have a coach that knows what it takes to make it to the NBA"
That worries me if that's what we're trying to hitch our horses to and what we are using to try to stand out to recruits.
KY obviously has been an NBA assistant coach and was pretty good at it. But LOTS of programs have guys who have been NBA Assistant Coaches. Or guys who have personally played in the NBA. Or coached players who have made the NBA. Or strong connections to NBA coaches/GMs/etc.
It's a good thing that we can sell that, but if we're as reliant on it, it's a problem. Because alone it's not as strong or unique a selling point as some seem to think
