muscles are firing properly (which can make a huge difference with joint pain in general, and especially with shoulders).
He will also give you exercises to strengthen the various support muscles. I found those to be very effective in eliminating and the preventing pain.
Whether you see him or someone else (like a physical therapist or sports doctor), I would recommend trying to get the muscles working properly before trying surgery. If you have a torn rotator cuff or labrum, then you will probably have to go under the knife. But there's a good chance it's just some imbalance among the various muscles in the shoulder, and treating that with the right exercises is definitely the first thing to try.
