The BYU trend was flat between 0.6 and 0.8/inning until 2019. The MLB trend
started in 2005 or so.
During our best recent seasons, 2016 and 2017, our opponents struck out more than we did by a wide margin.
Both BYU and our opponents saw a jump from the 2018 to the 2019 season in Ks/inning; the increase in Ks by BYU batters has just been greater than our opponents, which creates fan frustration.
