We went all the way past Hana to Kipahulu Park, pools and falls, then worked our way back. We went back a few days later and did some bamboo forest and waterfall hiking closer to the start of the highway/Road to Hana, but not the full highway.

If you want to see and do everything, it is a two day trip, imo.

Wai'anapanapa State Park is a must see on a sunny day.
