is mounted by the switches but we often use the remote by the bed and it ends up staying on the night stand. The remote is pretty nice to be able to turn off the light while in bed or adjust the fan speed during the night.

Fortunately for us there is a 3rd switch wired to some LED strips in the recessed part of the ceiling so there is always a way to turn on some light from the wall. If that weren't the case I think I would hate it.

If you could get 2 remotes that could solve the problem..
