Lighting a charcoal grill isn't much of a hassle. I use these fire starters:


They're $24 for 10 pounds. It'll probably take me 5 years to go through the box (it's actually two 5-pound boxes - not sure why they say the 5 pound option is out of stock). I cut them in half on the band saw, and use two shorter halves instead of one longer stick. It takes about 10 seconds to light them with a butane torch. 2-3 minutes later, the charcoal is lit and ready to go.
