best interest of both the team AND the player for the coach to be honest with the player about that. It was clear that KY was willing to honor the scholarship if he still wanted to come to BYU. But, if I'm a player with talent and aspirations, I would appreciate a coach being honest with me about where I might fit into his system (or not) early on.

Obviously, it's important that we are also able to fill that spot with someone who will be productive. I'm sad Davis is not going to be on the team. I would have loved to see him play. But the coach and player know better whether the player will be a good fit or not.
