I've been thinking about Temu all day.
Sorry for the overly dramatic, downer of a post, but I can't seem to stop thinking about Temu. So the US Congress warned American consumers that in all likelihood Temu is benefitting from slave labor and other wildly unregulated and poor labor conditions: https://apnews.com/article/temu-shein-forced-labor-china-de7b5398c76fda58404abc6ec5684972.

So if you're wondering why that kitchen organizer is listed at $0.78 on Temu, well, frankly slavery might be one explanation.

It just strikes me as odd (and sad) that we as a people universally condemn the practice of slavery in our own nation, and we look back on our country's history of slavery with immense shame, and yet many of us are perfectly fine with supporting it in other countries.

To be fair, not all of the items on the Temu marketplace are produced by slaves. I know that. But some of it is. And other stuff comes from places with horrible labor practices. It seems to me that Temu doesn't care one bit where this crap comes from, and they're all too willing to do whatever they need to do to get market share.
