The Crawford signing is so important on a number of levels.
1. Back up PG was a massive position of need. Last year Dallin was forced to play way too much and struggled, at times, at the end of the game. My guess is he had tired legs. If we can give Dallin 10-15 minutes a game off, then he is going to be so much better for us to close out games.

1b. With the announcement of 20 games and no byes in the Big 12, giving Dallin as much rest as possible becomes even more important to help BYU win games.

2. Move Dawson Baker to a more natural position of a 2-guard. Dawson is not a true PG he was just going to be asked to do it if BYU couldn't get someone. It allows Dawson to be more comfortable when he is on the floor.

3. Getting a four year player versus a transfer. I know, I know a four year player with NIL and the transfer portal is extinct at this point, but I choose optimism and having succession planning for Dallin is important. Having good guards translates to tourney success. Also, arguably the best players last year (Jax, Suanders, Hall, Fouss, Johnson) are guys who have been in the program multiple years. Getting a one year transfer can fill a hole but you can't build a program on it.
